But first…

What is SHANTY.CLUB?

Ahoy, me hearties!

From 2018 ’til 2021, we were known far and wide as the “Sydney Shanty Club.” But when the beloved Spawn Point Bar shuttered its doors, we found ourselves adrift, a wayward sloop without a port to call home.

We sang at weddings, events, and other shanty clubs ’round Australia, with our panel at PAX Aus each year bein’ the only consistent promise of song. We had to face the truth: Sydney was no longer our harbor.

And so, inspired by a domain name that ol’ Joel had drunkenly registered back in 2019, we took the side of our hull with a big ol’ fishhook and carved away one of the words, becoming the proud custodians of shanty.club.

This be a website dedicated to the magic of sea shanties – from findin’ the lyrics to yer favorite tunes to helpin’ ye start yer own shanty club.

With our charts referenced and our sails unfurled, we now be a pop-up shanty club, sailin’ across Australia. If this be ticklin’ yer fancy, follow us on our socials and join the voyage.

What People Say About Us

In these perilous waters, where dread once ruled, there now echoes a dark symphony. The Shanty Club’s eerie ballads turn hardened pirates into ghostly minstrels, their songs a siren’s call that chills the soul. Beware their melodies, for they enchant the seas and ensnare the unwary in a spell of darkness.

Captain Henri du Bois

La Marine Royale

The sea’s whispers have turned ominous with the Shanty Club’s ghostly chants. Pirates, once fearsome foes, now sing eerie ballads that haunt the waves. Their melodies ensnare the unwary and cast a shadow over our waters. Beware these songs, for they lure souls into darkness.
